Hello Sivagami,

Thank you for your email.

There is no magic pill to securing a work permit in Canada. We have received thousands of requests from qualified professionals around the world looking to work and live in Canada. Here is some information, some perspective and advice that will hopefully support your career objectives.

Most Canadian companies must complete a labor market opinion prior to hiring foreign employees. The labor market opinion must showcase the company's attempts to hire someone in Canada and/or detail how the requirement for a foreign employee provides a unique skill or advantage that is otherwise not be available in Canada, therefor requiring a sponsorship work visa to hire a foreign worker.

Our team at CareersToday has worked with many immigrants both in Canada and overseas, assisting them with their self-marketing efforts. This takes, diligence, time and hard work between the prospective job seeker and their coach. Importantly, no-one can guarantee the success of a job-search or entry into Canada on a work visa.

My advice to you is to target companies in Canada that may already have a presence in India. Do some quality research on these companies. Your research should focus on learning as much as possible about company's objectives and challenges. With a more detailed understanding of a company's objectives or challenges you should attempt to create professional value propositions on what you 'can do' for the company and not simply just send a resume that focuses on what you 'have done'. Hopefully you may get the attention of a Canadian company in India who might refer you to a colleague in Canada.

I would also suggest you send value propositions directly to Canadian companies looking to expand to India. Eg: There are many trips for Canadian companies arranged by provincial and federal politicians. Perhaps you can research which companies invested in going on these trips and their particular interest in the Indian market.

I hope that this insight may assist you. I wish you well with your goals and hopefully we might meet in Canada one day.

My best,
