
Surjit Singh Dhami passed away on March 11, 2026, at the age of 83. He was born on September 2, 1942, in Sahuli, District Ludhiana, Punjab, and was one of nine siblings. He earned a civil engineering degree from Guru Nanak Engineering College and worked as a professor, teaching at respected institutions such as ITI. In 1972, he immigrated to Canada, where he worked hard to build a life centered around family, community, strong values, and faith.
In 1986, he opened his first business, beginning with steel railings and later expanding into the furniture business. Through dedication and perseverance, he continued working until he retired at the age of 75.
Surjit was known as a strong, honest, compassionate, and deeply faithful man who loved his family dearly. He had a strong belief in God and found strength and guidance through prayer throughout his life. He was respected for his strength of character, generosity, and the care he showed to those around him.
He was preceded in death by his son, Sunjit Singh Dhami.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Harminder Kaur; his daughters Kiran Kaur (Satnam), Sharen Kaur (Sukhwinder), and Amber Kaur (Matthew); and his cherished grandchildren Shavon, Devyn, and Raelyn.
Surjit will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose greatest joy was his family. His legacy of strength, honesty, compassion, and faith will continue to live on through all those who loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 20, 2026, at 2:30 PM at:
