Ingredients Method 2. Cooking the onion first is important because tomato cooks quickly. 3. Add apples, tomato, whole and ground spices, salt, pepper, mustard, ginger and sultanas. 4. Simmer gently until all the mixture is soft, stirring from time to time. 5. Add remainder of the vinegar and sugar. 6. When sugar has completely dissolved, boil steadily until chutney has consistency of jam. Carefully remove whole spices. Spoon into jars and seal. |
