Re: God’s Army

It is too bad that this army did not unite with Aung San to topple the army generals who prevented her from serving her people as their elected President.

This army was stuck in the tropical malarial Burmese jungle, and did not learn urban guerilla tactics, otherwise by now, the generals would be really nervous.

The other avenue is to wait for the impotent United Nations to issue a resolution on the issue, and wait if it produces any ineffective sanctions.

The people of Burma should ask the help of the Vietnamese to get rid of these corrupt generals

Re: Arroyo-Speech

The Gods who reside in Malacanang Palace, the Patricians who occupy the Philippine Lower House and the Senate, the government ministers, the high court judges, and the filthy rich, are nervous.

They like the status quo, not a coup de etat.

The two impeachment movements did not get the required votes in the Lower House. Gloria's Patricians made sure of that because they have the advantage in numbers. They do not want anyone to rock the boat.

Let sleeping dogs lie, Court Jester number one Michael says, let us unite for our country, Court Jester number two Ignacio retorts. Let us forget the doubful election victory of Arroyo and some candidates who called Garci "The Fixer" at Comelec.

Now the Patricians are honoring the Head Centurion. They are giving him the laurels for his services, for the well fought, tough, election "campaigns" in the south. Gloria's Patricians at the Commission on Appointments just gave him fours stars to better rule his troops and minions.

The Head Centurion will forever be in debt to the Patricians lead by Gloria. He will protect them from their political enemies, because it will be to his best interest if they stay in power.

He will have power and riches himself, like his masters as long as he continue to serve them. He might even join Gloria and the Patricians someday when his centurion duties are over.

For now his duty as Head Centurion is to make sure his masters continue to rule, until one day, some ambitious, young, and hungry centurions, impatiently waiting in the wings will take away his power and end his service to his masters.

Re: NRI Bride

As the saying goes, 'two wrongs won't make a right' but after having read many of the news articles about abandoned brides does anyone really blame Parwinder Kaur for turning the tables on the men this time?

I feel equally sorry for the men and the women who have been lied to and taken advantage of by greedy opportunists who have left their spouces to rot while they pursue their fortune in Canada.

Perhaps now the goverments and the police in both India and Canada will take the measures to put a stop to some of these ancient cultural practices that are dragging Indians back two feet for every inch of social and economic progress that they have earned in the 21st century.

If the allegations are proven true her Canadian Citizenship should be revoked, plain and simple. To abuse the honour of being a Canadian in this manner is a form of treason that should not be tolerated.

Re: Editorial: The Pope & the Prophet

What you write is totally correct except that in the first line you should have said that this is the reason why most moderate Muslims are increasingly getting radicalised.Pope is not an innocent child to forget the blood tinged history of Christianity completely and talk of the nothing good was brought by Prophet Muhammad in a rare opportunity he gets to put his religious views in an academic context.

Re: Campus Scene Jessica Chen

Jessica Chen is a very beautiful woman and she has her goals in order. She loves esculant dishes and I'm fascinated with her workout ethic. Like myself, she is a scorpio and I would love to meet her. I maybe a link for her to become a model in the U.S. She has high standards and I think that's a special quality in some women. Jessica Chen should be an inspiration to a lot of young women.

Re: Japan has a yen for Canadian horse meat

I've tried horse sashimi and I have to admit that it tasted good. Why are horses any different than say, cows, pigs, chickens, ducks or even little lambs? It's all relative and differs from society to society. Just because horses are more widely domesticated in North America and less likely eaten, people are more sensitive to it. What about deer, rabbits, bears and ostriches? Yum yum!

An error, true, but you also got it wrong -- the sale happened _two_ years ago in 2004, not "almost 6 years ago".

I have just watched the BBC documentary on the 4 year old who runs marathons. I was appaled at what I had seen. It is inhumane to put so much pressure on such a young boy. It was like witnessing a moving freak show.

As for not giving Budhia a drink while he ran is just madness. I was stunned by the comment Biranchi Das made when it was pointed out to him that he he could die during the 40mile marathon "He will become a martyr" he shouted, Would he show as much diregard for his own blood children, I think not.
India, do the right thing and ban Biranchi Das from his quest for fame and fortune, at least until the boy is old enough to make a decision without the threat of being abandoned yet again.

Re: Campus Scene: Kimberly Wong

Kimberly Wong seems to be a heart warming and loving person. She has a nice major that she's going to accompilsh. Kimberly, if you can or can't sing, let me be the judge of that. You just might have the talent to succeed in the music industry. Watersnake is an unusual dish for me, but I'm willing to try anything. I have to give you props on being a scorpio because scorpios are very romantic. I am a scorpio as well, so I can vouch for that. Kimberly, keep doing what you're doing and I know you will be successful at whatever you do

Re: Timeline

Life is strange. My family and I had returned from Vancouver the day the film was shown in the UK on Cable TV. I couldn't sleep due to jet lag and decided to watch some TV at 3am.

I suddenly found myself back in Canada, where I had only been 24 hours earlier. The film was quite damning and clearly showed that the family of Jassi was hellbent on destroying them. When you have money and connections in India, you can do anything and still get away with it. With so much daming evidence, how can the state of punjab and more importantly the country of India allow this injustice to go on. If Jassi's parents think they have got away with it, they're wrong, as one day even with all their money, power etx, they will stand before God and he will judge them finally. Don't lose heart my friend, in the final analysis, we each get what we deserve.

Re: Editorial: North Korea's bomb

Your rather funny article looses all credibility by accusing AECL of having provided anybody with uranium enrichment technology. The CANDU reactor was specifically designed to use natural, eg. un-enriched, uranium fuel, and is the only reactor technology in the world to do so.

Re:Filipino nurses' exam scandal

The Filipino Nurses Support Group (FNSG) in Vancouver, Canada supports the position of the National Union of Students of the Philippines (NUSP) in its statement yesterday: "A retake of the exams will not bring dignity back to our nursing profession. The prosecution of the wrongdoers, even if they are with the powers-that-be, and basic reforms with nursing education will do the job."

We must stop blaming the victims of the sick health care and education systems in the Philippines and hold President Arroyo accountable to ensuring quality health education, as well as decent work and wages for nurses, instead of selling them to other countries for their foreign dollar remittances.

Re: The easy way to get your 5 to 10 a day fruit and vegetables

I don't think that all frozen fruits and vegetables are as good as fresh. Certain processes will diminish their nutritive value. However, freeze dried fruits and veggies retain their nutrients and other characteristics. You should include them on your list of suggested alternatives. They last longer, are easy to use and make great snacks naturally reconstituted with the moisture from your mouth.
