Advertising, television, film and video, entertainment, game design, architecture, education, and businesses, including law firms and insurance companies, are among the industries that make use of design, illustration, and modeling skills developed by graduates of the animation programs.

Entry-level opportunities such as storyboard artist, character designer, special effects artist, background painter, clean-up artist, animator, modeler, and video post-production artist are at the forefront of a field that is repackaging information in creative new ways. The animation professional is a skilled and specialized visual communicator who combines individual artistic talent with technological expertise to create impressions in a moving-image format.

Students in the Animation Art & Design program all begin with a foundation in drawing, color design, video production, and computer applications. From this foundation, students develop advanced skills in various aspects of computer graphics and animation. Students learn to use the tools of the animation profession, ranging from computer operating systems to three-dimensional modeling and desktop video production. In addition to software applications, equipment also includes scanners, printer, video, audio, and classroom presentation equipment. These tools enhance students’ flexibility and creativity, and enable them to produce an individualized digital portfolio that demonstrates their practical and technical abilities to potential employers.

The Animation Art & Design program helps students attain a foundation in animation art and design. The program also provides a hands-on approach to education that develops students’ strengths in art, computer animation operations, model building, storyboarding, character and object development, and 2-D and 3-D animation.
