Discover yourself in Interior Design, Building Design and Graphic Design
Students are exposed to the basic skills of drafting, sketching and computer-aided drafting from the beginning of the program. These skills are developed each semester around a major studio project. The studio projects are set to challenge the knowledge and skill of the student as they progress through the program.
During the first year of studies, students learn the basics of residential interior design, starting with single room projects moving towards the custom design of homes. Students also study building technology and materials, architectural design, art, drafting and basic computer applications for CAD. This program offers students the opportunity to study the principles of good architectural practice relating to North American home designs through a combination of studio study with professional architects and Interior Designers, lectures by experts and field trips to experience good residential design first hand. To become a successful home designer you need to understand all aspects of a home including, interior and exterior design and know how a house is built. We combine all this knowledge with our art, design and computer courses. 2nd Year Diploma The focus of the second year of study in the Interior Design program is to develop design abilities in program analysis, research, concept development and communication used in commercial interior design projects. Studio lecture courses in VectorWorks computer drafting, detailed millwork and construction drawings for studio commercial design projects including office, restaurant and retail design are completed in this second year program. The ability to render proficiently to communicate the concept and spirit of the design solution is emphasized and applied to complete presentations of major studio projects. Second year students participate in all aspects of commercial interior design. Taught by a variety of practicing designers, this year of studies also includes major studio projects ranging from hospitality and office design to retail and exhibition.
