Rare art collection comes to Vancouver
Thu, June 22 2006
The Dai Family Collection of 19th and 20th Century Masterpieces is undoubtedly one of the rarest and most valuable private collections of traditional Chinese paintings and calligraphy known today. For the first time in Vancouver, more than 60 pieces of original 19th and 20th century traditional Chinese masterpieces will be on display. The exhibit engages a variety of artistic styles from over 50 of China’s most beloved and renowned contemporary artists from the Qing Dynasty to the 1900s. It not only includes works by eight of the top ten Chinese painters, such as Qi Baishi, Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong, Fu Baoshi and Wu Changshuo, whose paintings are being sold at the highest prices, but also original pieces by Qing Dynasty Emperors and Empresses. Many of paintings are judged individually to be worth hundreds of thousands, even millions of US dollars. The exhibit will be held at the Raddison President Hotel in Richmond on June 26 -29, 2006, 10:00am -9:00pm, and June 30, 2006, 10:00am - 1:00pm. General Admission, $12; Seniors/Students: $10. |
