HOW DID YOU MEET?
Alvin's twin brother was performing at the talent show and Alvin went to watch. Laureen was helping her friend at the show and that was where Alvin first laid eyes on her. They later reconnected when Alvin found out that Laureen was a friend of his high school classmate. Right away, he knew he had to meet the sweet smiling wonder and eventually…he got his wish!
WHAT DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT HER/HIS CULTURE?
Alvin:The most I like about the Chinese culture is Laureen (don’t Asian beauties count as culture?) - but I also like their exotic food.
Laureen: In Malaysia, they sleep in Kampungs (a stationary house on stilts in water) and I hear the view is amazing from there! And the food too of course.
WHAT DO YOU DISLIKE OR FIND PECULIAR ABOUT HER/HIS CULTURE?
Alvin: Some foods (and those medicinal herbs) are really expensive!
Laureen: I think it's slightly peculiar that people always eat with their hands in Malaysia, but I could get used to it.
HOW DID YOUR PARENTS REACT ABOUT THE RELATIONSHIP?
Alvin: They were happy for us. They hope we'll be together forever.
Laureen: They were a little surprised at first and then they got used to the idea of seeing the two of us together all the time. We literally see each other (almost) every day!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE FOOD OR DISH FROM HER/HIS CULTURE?
Alvin: Whatever Laureen cooks for me - which is usually some type of Asian style fried eggs.
Laureen: I love the spicy (but not too spicy!) food and roti and satays. Hot and spicy, just the way I like my man… hehehe
WHAT WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOURSELF AS?
Laureen & Alvin 2Alvin: Romantic, happy-go-lucky, rough around the edges, intelligent, athletic, grandma and momma's boy, family man, dork.

Alvin: Sweet, silly, dorky, funny, adorable, sincere, caring, protective, genuine, patient, knowledgeable about medicine, dreamer, hardworking, motivated.
Laureen: Sweet, cute, dorky, smart, caring, uptight at times, adorable, smells great, curious about things, great motivator, so much more...in other words, I cannot live without her.
