The Hudson’s Bay Company, the mother corporation of Canada’s top retailing stores such as The Bay, Zellers, Home Outfitters and others, has begun using the latest IBM technology for its magical shopping fairs this Christmas.

Senior Vice President Gord Sonnenberg said that HBC is spreading festive cheer among children, adults, and even technology buffs, with the latest Christmas window technology from IBM.

For the first time ever, the Bay’s famous Christmas windows will include the shopper’s image using new technology from a high-tech sensor will capture the image of passers by and project it into the window.

The results can also be printed on a 4x6 holiday postcard compliments of The Bay and currently available at both the downtown Vancouver and Toronto locations as a part of its “magical” Christmas displays.

“With its hi-tech sensor capability, the system reacts when it senses a customer touching the graphic display,” says Sonnenberg who handles HBC’s merchandising department.

HBC is Canada’s largest diversified general merchandise retailer, operating in department store (the Bay), mass merchandise (Zellers), specialty (Home Outfitters and Designer Depot) and discount (Fields) formats.
