Canada’s new foreign minister, Lawrence Cannon, has condemned the serial blasts in Assam in northeastern India that killed more than 70 people.
In a statement, Cannon said, “Canada strongly condemns the bombings in Assam, which targeted civilians and resulted in scores of deaths and hundreds of injuries.”
He said, “On behalf of all Canadians, I extend my condolences to the families and friends of those who lost their lives, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.”
The minister said his department was working with the Indian authorities to determine whether any Canadians were affected by these events.
“We stand firmly united with the government of India in condemning these despicable acts of violence,” the minister sad.
