Signature Dish: “We have a lot of signature dishes. Every dish is made to perfection!” Training: Boon learned everything from his mother, who was a master chef in Indonesia. “She won a gold medal in cooking and baking in Indonesia. She also used to have a catering business in Toronto. Favorite Fast Food: “I don’t eat much fast food but I love olive pizza!” Years in the Industry: Over 10 years Defining Dining in Vancouver: “Vancouver has become so sophisticated in their culinary industry. A lot of international fine cuisine as well as good prices!” Home Cooking Tip: “You need to have passion.” Favorite snack food: Fruits Favorite summer drink/food: Cranberry juice and salad “We serve the worlds most expensive coffee for $65 a cup. It is called Kope Luwak. In the olden days it could only be drank by sultans and kings.” “If you haven’t tasted Rendana, you haven’t tasted Indonesian Cuisine at all!” Spice Islands Indonesian Restaurant won Vancouver Magazine Silver Medal Award in 2008 for best South East Asian Restaurant. “It is like the Culinary Oscars,” Boon jokes.
