Education_Story-OneAsian Family Association (SAFA) presents graduating high school students in British Columbia with scholarships for community and academic excellence to recognize the positive contributions of South Asian Youth in their community.


This year, SAFA is offering three scholarships of $1,000 each to young South Asian men and women who will join any accredited post-secondary institution in B.C.


In order to qualify, the students must meet the following criteria:


1.


Be a B.C. resident or citizen under the definitions of the Immigration Act;


2.


Be enrolling into full-time studies in 2009 at an accredited institution that will lead to a first post-secondary degree;


3.


Have completed Grade 12 studies at a BC secondary school.


To apply for an award in Academic Excellence, two academic references and an official school transcript are required. To be considered for an Award for Community Involvement, the applicant must supply a listing of all of the community activities and associations in which they took a leadership role in the last three years. For both awards, a 500 - 750 word essay is also required.
