South Asian singer nominated for Canadian music award

World music songstress Vandana Vishwas has been nominated in 'Best World' category at the 2016 Toronto Independent Music Awards (TIMA).

This is Vandana's fourth nomination at TIMA, having already been nominated in 2010, 2014 and 2015.

The Toronto Independent Music Awards was created in 2004 to support independent Canadian musicians across Ontario. The TIMAs acknowledge and celebrate songs in a variety of genres without regard to recording quality, industry affiliation or sales history.

The TIMAs are supported by Canadian and international music industry professionals, accomplished recording artists, broadcasters, and most of all – music fans and aficionados.

The 12th Annual Toronto Independent Music Awards Gala and Festival will be at Revival, located at 783 College St, Toronto on Friday, September 30th.

An architect by profession, Vandana is formally trained in Indian Classical music and has been an All India Radio artist since childhood. She has released two critically acclaimed music albums 'Meera The Lover' and 'Monologues', and a single 'Samarasiddha' to date.

Her third full length album is due to be released in next couple of months. She is scheduled to tour United Kingdom and India this winter following the release of the album.
