Barely a fortnight after the first trailer of her Hollywood debut flick XXX: Return Of Xander Cage was launched, Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone finds herself on a list of Hollywood's "next generation" stars.

The list was produced by Vanity Fair, one of the world’s most influential lifestyle magazines.

Deepika, 30, is at position number two in the Hollywood Nex-Gen List, which features eleven newcomers who the magazine feels are cut out for stardom in American showbiz.

The Indian actor is behind only Elizabeth Debicki on the list.

The 25-year Australian sensation topped the list thanks to the global stardom she has garnered after impressive performances in The Man From U.N.C.L.E. and The Great Gatsby, and also the buzz that her upcoming role in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 has been generating.

Other GenNow actors on the list are Aldis Hodge, Finn Wittrock, Lily Collins, Douglas Booth, Annabelle Wallis, Lakeith Stanfield, Joe Alwyn, Ben Schnetzer, and Riley Keough.

The magazine edition has Deepika dressed in a sexy red Gucci outfit, and pictures her coming out of a luxury car.

A pop quiz features along with each star on the list, to give fans a sneak peek into his or her mind.

Deepika, for instance, revealed her preferred take-out order was pizza, favourite karaoke song was Celine Dion’s My Heart Will Go On and Mariah Carey’s Hero, and her guilty pleasure was chocolate cake.

She also revealed an old-world slant, opting for vinyl over MP3 and books over Kindle.

The actor’s embarrassing habit, she revealed, was: “to clean up whatever space I am in”.

Declaring that she was a morning person rather than a night bird, she told Vanity Fair that her mother is her style icon while her father is her role model, along with cricketer Rahul Dravid and tennis icon Roger Federer.

Deepika’s inclusion in the list could not have been better timed.

Although her debut release in Hollywood is a year away, buzz is gathering around the film.

The new XXX film, the third in the series, will also star Nina Dobrev, Ruby Rose, and Ariadna Gutierrez as Diesel’s heroines as well as Deepika.

The action-packed spy thriller is being directed by DJ Caruso, known for thrillers such as Disturbia, Eagle Eye, and I am Number Four.
